- Note these Section-sponsored sessions taking place on Monday, April 19:
- Title: What Does Interlibrary Loan Really Cost?
Description: Join Mary Jackson, Auto-Graphics Resource Sharing Product Manager, as she discusses the results of the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) cost studies she coordinated while she was the Director of Collections and Access Programs for the Association of Research Libraries (ARL). Mary will talk about the methodology used in the studies and will explain the worksheets libraries used to determine their ILL costs. Attend this session and you will receive copies of the detailed cost worksheets so that you can go back to your library and figure out the costs of your library's ILL operation.
- Title: Signed, Sealed, Delivered: Physical Delivery of Library Material
Description: Join Scherelene Schatz, JerseyCat and JerseyClicks Project Manager for the New Jersey State Library, who will talk about the Delivery Committee of the Rethinking Resource Sharing initiative. Scherelene will also discuss new programs in which libraries in southern New Jersey are experimenting with delivery of library material directly to patrons.
- Title: From Wish to Reality: Interoperability and Interlibrary Loan
Description: Mary Jackson, Resource Sharing Product Manager for Auto-Graphics, will provide an overview of how Interlibrary Loan (ILL) systems interoperate with circulation systems using the NISO Circulation Interchange Protocol (NCIP). Sue Berescik, Director of the East Hampton Public Library, will demonstrate their implementation of NCIP that resulted in up to 54% savings in ILL staff time because the standard eliminates the need for a staff member to update two systems.
